Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Might Want to Know Before You Go
All bookings start with a request. Once we receive your request, we personally review availability, discuss details with you, and tailor the experience to your wishes. Your booking is confirmed only after written confirmation.
We operate in and around Rovaniemi, Sinettä, and Porokari. Most activities happen in Porokari, a remote forest area where we have multiple private spots. This allows us to offer quiet, flexible, and crowd-free experiences — shaped by nature, not schedules.
Both. We offer carefully designed packages, but everything remains flexible. We can adjust activities, timing, and accommodation — or create something fully custom.
No. We do not book flights. This gives you full flexibility to choose departure times, airlines, and routes that suit you best. Once your flights are booked, we design the itinerary around your arrival and departure times.
We don’t book car rentals directly, but we’re happy to advise. In Lapland, having a rental car is often the easiest way to explore at your own pace — especially for forest accommodations, groceries, and day trips.
We work with a small selection of carefully chosen places:
- traditional Finnish cottages
- sauna cottages in nature
- city apartments in Rovaniemi
We prefer places with character, warmth, and a strong sense of place — not generic hotels.
Yes. When booking, you can indicate your preference. We’ll review available options together and help you choose what suits your travel style best.
Not always. Some forest cottages intentionally have limited or no Wi-Fi to encourage rest, deeper sleep, and time offline. City apartments usually have Wi-Fi. This is always communicated before booking.
All activities offered by Your Lapland are private — only you and your group, guided by a local professional.
Weather is part of life in Lapland. If conditions are unsafe or not ideal, we adjust routes, timing, or activities. Northern Lights sightings can never be guaranteed, but we always choose the best possible moment.
Safety always comes first.
Yes. Many activities can be adapted for families and children. Just let us know the ages of your children, and we’ll shape the experience accordingly.
No experience is needed.
A full introduction and safety briefing are always given before activities. You can also choose to ride as a passenger instead of driving.
No — and nobody honestly can.
Northern Lights depend on solar activity and weather conditions. We plan aurora hunts only when conditions are favourable and always aim for the best possible experience, even if the lights don’t appear.

Yes. Travel insurance is mandatory and should cover medical care, cancellations, and outdoor activities.
Absolutely.
Lapland is calm, safe, and well-organised. We guide you step by step — from planning and packing to activities and timing — so you feel comfortable even if it’s your first Arctic experience.
These experiences are designed as small moments of real Lapland life, not standalone tourist activities. They are best enjoyed as part of a day in the wilderness — after snowmobiling through the forest, ice fishing on a frozen lake, or returning from a Northern Lights hunt.
Sharpening a puukko knife or cooking loimulohi by the fire are things that traditionally happen naturally during a day outdoors in Lapland. By combining them with another activity, the experience feels more authentic and relaxed — just the way life in the north actually is.
Animal welfare is very important to us.When we arrange reindeer or husky experiences, we work only with local herders and dog handlers who genuinely care for their animals and treat them as part of their daily life — not just as a tourist attraction.
This means the focus is always on respecting the animals and their natural rhythm. The animals are not pushed to run constantly or used simply to maximise tourist rides.Instead, we visit small, local operations where the animals are well cared for and the experience feels authentic and relaxed.
For us, it’s important that guests experience these traditions in a way that respects both the animals and the people who work with them.
Every stay and experience at Your Lapland is a little different.
